Dell Latitude D610

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist

The D610 is ready for any road you may travel. This mainstream business notebook is built for serious mobile performance, incorporating Intel's latest-generation Centrino platform. It's also fairly light (5.4 pounds) and has very good battery life (4 hours)—a winning combination for busy road warriors.

The D610 looks just like its predecessor, the D600, but now incorporates a sturdy metal frame. The 14.1-inch screen has good contrast and a wide 130-degree viewing angle. The other good news is that Dell has added two more USB ports to the D610 than the outgoing model had, for a total of four.

Our test system came with a DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive, but you can upgrade to a DV+/-RW burner for an extra $80. Docking solutions are compatible across the entire D family, with a port replicator ($199 direct), full docking station ($359), and a viewing stand ($69) that elevates your notebook to a comfortable viewing position for desktop use.

The D610 is using the latest Centrino technologies. The new Pentium M 760 (2.0 GHz), 512MB DDR2 memory, and ATI Radeon X300 helped it achieve a chart-topping 171 on SYSmark 2004 Internet Content Creation. Draining the battery such as dell Inspiron 5150 battery, dell Inspiron 1150 battery, Dell 312-0660 Battery, Dell XPS M1530 Battery, Dell TK330 Battery, Dell RU030 Battery, Dell XT828 Battery, Dell 310-5351 Battery, Dell G5226 Battery, Dell C5340 Battery, Dell F5608 Battery took exactly 4 hours on our BatteryMark test. The unit's wireless 802.11g test results were some of the best we've seen. For optimal battery results, Dell suggests a Pentium M 730 and integrated graphics.

More Security is an important aspect that Dell focuses on, so having TPM 1.1 (Trusted Platform Module) standard across the Latitude line is very comforting. TPM offers hardware-level support for storing and creating encryption keys. The D610 also comes with a built in Smart Card Reader and Intel's Execute Disable Bit hardware antivirus support.

Users will have access to Dell's OpenManage client software, which includes hardware configuration utilities, management utilities, and Altiris's Backup/Recovery Solutions. Although OpenManage offers myriad applications, there's a lack of integration with all the different pieces. Unlike IBM's Access tools, the OpenManage suite is not tied to one interface. You have to open and close the different applications. Still, the Dell Latitude D610 is a solid buy, thanks to its very good battery life and performance.
