Dell is upgrading both of its Inspiron R and Vostro 3000 laptop lines to the next level of power processing with Intel's 2nd Generation Core i CPUs (a.k.a., Sandy Bridge). Standard connectivity options now include USB 3.0 ports to help amp up those data transfer speeds with USB 3.0 devices.
The Inspiron R-series is getting a unique design upgrade: lids that can be popped out and replaced with another. The interchangeable lids start at $39.99. For fashion-forward geeks out there, this feature could be a plus if your original lid has taken a beating and needs to be replaced. Other features include WiDi (Intel's Wireless Display), a technology that allows you to wirelessly stream the laptop's content to your HDTV (provided you have the Netgear Push2TV dongle).
Battery life is said to provide 13 hours with a 9-cell 90Wh battery on the 15R like dell J399N battery, dell Inspiron 1440 battery, dell Inspiron 1750 battery, dell Inspiron 17 battery, dell Inspiron 14 battery, Dell RM791 Battery, Dell Studio 1735 Battery, Dell Studio 17 Battery, Dell Studio 1737 Battery, Dell MT342 Battery, which would be an impressive feat for a desktop replacement. The R-series laptops come with a 6-cell battery, but there is the option to upgrade to the aforementioned 9-cell. Displays come in three sizes: 14, 15, and 17 inches, each equipped with LED screens. Above the screen, Dell is including an HD (720p) Webcam .
For base configurations, the price on the 14R starts at $579.99, the 15R starts at $529.99, and the 17R stars at $579.99. All models are currently available on Dell's Web site.
