Apple Releases Two New Macbook Air Notebooks

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Apple Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

Today Apple released the long-awaited updates to its MacBook Air lineup. While the CPUs stayed the same, Apple managed to make the notebooks thinner than ever, helped in part by soldering flash memory directly to the motherboard. As part of the update, the computer giant also introduced a new 11.6-inch model.

The new MacBook Air comes in four choices, direct from the Apple store. Thanks to the decreased size of the 11.6-inch model, the MBA refresh also introduces the first MacBook Air model that's come in with a sub-$1,000 price.

11.6-inch MacBook Air Specifications:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.4GHz or 1.6GHz (800MHz FSB, 3MB L2 cache)

Memory: 2GB DDR3 SDRAM @ 1066MHz (upgradeable to 4GB max)

Hard drive: 64GB or 128GB flash memory (soldered directly to motherboard)

Optical drive: none

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 320M with 256MB of DDR3

Display: 11.6 inches, LED-backlit

Resolution: 1366x768

Networking: none

Wireless networking: 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR

The base configuration of the 11.6-inch MacBook Air runs $999. Optional upgrades include a 1.6GHz CPU ($100 and available only in conjunction with the 128GB disk), 4GB of system memory ($100), 128GB of flash storage ($200) an external MacBook Air SuperDrive that runs over USB ($79) and a USB-to-Ethernet adapter ($29).

Apple's smaller MacBook Air retains the same thickness as its bigger brother - 0.68 inches on the rear side, which tapers down to just 0.11 inches in the front. The whole unit only weighs 2.3 pounds, which is just a bit more than an iPad.

In addition to a built-in microphone, stereo speakers and what Apple now calls a "FaceTime camera", whether to capitalize on its new FaceTime desktop software, qualify the distinction from a higher-quality iSight webcam or both, there are two USB 2.0 ports, a mini-DisplayPort output and a headphone mini-jack. Interestingly, the mini-jack does support headphones with Apple's built-in microphone and remote control capabilities.

Thanks in part to a non-user serviceable 35Wh battery such as Apple M8244 Battery, Apple A1079 Battery, Apple A1078 Battery, Apple A1148 Battery, Apple M6091 Battery, Apple M8956 Battery, Apple A1008 Battery, Apple A1061 Battery, Apple A1060 Battery, Apple A1022 Battery, the 11.6-inch MacBook Air is rated for 5 hours of runtime, including continuous Wi-Fi access. Apple made a big deal about using a more-rigorous-than-is-standard battery test to gauge the usability of the Air during their presentation earlier today. As part of the MacBook Air's new "instant-on" capabilities, it's basically expected to be either in use or asleep - not fully powered down. Apple therefore gives a new battery metric - standby time - usually reserved for mobile phones. In this case, both MacBook Air models are rated for 30 days of standby time.

13.3-inch MacBook Air Specifications

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Apple Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.86GHz or 2.13GHz (800MHz FSB, 3MB L2 cache)

Memory: 2GB DDR3 SDRAM @ 1066MHz (upgradeable to 4GB max)

Hard drive: 128GB or 256GB flash memory (soldered directly to motherboard)

Optical drive: none

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 320M with 256MB of DDR3

Display: 13.3 inches, LED-backlit

Resolution: 1440x900

Networking: none

Wireless networking: 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR

The base configuration of the refreshed 13.3-inch model starts at $1299. That's still a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than it was just a few days ago. Optional upgrades include a 2.13GHz CPU ($100 and available only in conjunction with the 256GB disk), 4GB of system memory ($100), 256 GB of flash storage ($300) an external MacBook Air SuperDrive that runs over USB ($79) and a USB-to-Ethernet adapter ($29).

There are also various adapters available from Apple, just in case you want to hook the Air up to a monitor other than the Apple Cinema Display.

Despite possessing a larger screen, the 13.3-inch MacBook Air is just as thin as the more portable version - which is no real surprise, since it features essentially the same hardware, just a different CPU. The 13.3-inch model also includes an SD card slot (there's no word as to whether it reads SDXC or SDHC cards, but it's probably the former).

Even though the bigger MacBook Air offers a larger screen and more powerful CPU, battery like Apple A1175 Battery, Apple A1185 Battery, Apple M9324 Battery, Apple M8403 Battery, Apple M7318 Battery, apple PowerBook G3 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 15 inch Battery, Apple A1012 Battery, Apple M8511 Battery life on the new model is actually greater than on its little brother. This is thanks to a more capacious 50Wh non-user serviceable battery. Apple's new battery life rating includes 7 hours of runtime with Wi-Fi on, as well as the same 30 hours of standby time.

Instant on

Other worthwhile updates to the MacBook Air line is a dedication on the part of Apple to move to all solid-state components. The software running on the Air has been optimized for flash storage, and early user reports are claiming that the notebook really is ready to use the second it's opened.

The MacBook Air 2010 refresh also keeps a full-sized keyboard and a large glass multitouch trackpad. Unfortunately, however, it seems as if Apple has dropped the backlit keyboards from the Air in an attempt to keep the prices down.

Since the Air doesn't have an optical drive, Apple includes an 8GB USB memory stick (a very tiny memory stick) with all of the software necessary to reinstall OS X, the drivers and more. The new MacBook Airs are also shipping with iLife '11, which was demoed at the presentation earlier today.

Stay tuned for more coverage of Apple's latest-generation MacBook Air products, including our reviews, coming later this week.

Apple's new MacBook Pro range

Apple's new MacBook Pro range

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of Apple Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

Apple's new line of MacBook Pro laptops was launched last week, now featuring Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, upgraded NVIDIA graphics cards and new prices to match. Let's take a closer look at what you'll get for your money with these new and improved models.

With Intel's Calpella platform and Core i processors available for a few months already, Apple has seized the moment to replace the Core 2 Duo processors and graphics cards in its top-of-the-range laptops. These are fairly predictable updates that won't bring anything revolutionary to the range, but they will bring a few welcome improvements.

First of all, Apple has increased the battery such as Apple MacBook 13 Battery, Apple MA561 Battery, Apple iBook LCD Battery, Apple M8665 Battery, Apple M9628 Battery, Apple MA348 Battery, Apple A1189 Battery, Apple MA458 Battery, Apple M8984 Battery, Apple MacBook Pro 15 Battery life of the MacBook Pro. Although it was already excellent on previous models, it's now set to be even better thanks to new higher-capacity batteries that help manage power consumption more effectively. There's no change to the overall design of the laptops or their connections, and to be honest, there's no real need to change anything when Apple's MacBook Pro has already set the standard so high. Still, it would have been nice to see a memory card reader on the 17-inch model, or even see the USB ports rearranged to space out the ports that are too close together, for example.

No new processor for the 13-inch MacBook Pro

Apple hasn't updated all of its MacBook Pro models in the same way, as the 13-inch version will be keeping its Intel Core 2 Duo processor rather than switching to one of the new Core i processors. The processor frequency has, however, been increased to either 2.4 or 2.66 GHz, and the standard RAM has been increased to 4 GB. Hard drive capacities have been upped to 250 and 320 GB compared with 160 and 250 GB for the previous versions, and the battery is boosted from 58 Wh to 63.5 Wh. Finally, the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card is replaced by the superior GeForce 320M.

Apple's own version of NVIDIA Optimus and Core i5/i7 processors for 15- and 17-inch models

We're pleased to see the 15-inch and 17-inch models now feature Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, which are already working wonders in some recently released PCs. The lowest-performance Core i5-520M processor still achieves a frequency of 2.4 GHz, with the most powerful Core i7-620M version reaching 2.66 GHz. I, however, would have liked to see a MacBook Pro with one of the quad-core Intel Core i7-720QM processors that are already used in some high-end PCs. Maybe Apple had a few heat dispersion issues when trying to integrate it (10 watts more TDP).

Another major new upgrade is the inclusion of technology similar to NVIDIA's Optimus. Apple has, in fact, developed its own version of the system which lets you activate the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics card to take over from the processor's graphics management capacities as and when this is considered beneficial. This makes graphics management completely transparent for users. It should also help improve comfort of use and battery life, as performances and power consumption will be better handled. On previous models of MacBook Pro, you had to log out of the system completely to switch between the two graphics chipsets, whereas you can now do so quickly and easily while you work.

Glossy or matte screen and a boosted battery life

The default 16:10-format screen on 15-inch models still has a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels. It would have been nice to see that increase to 1680 x 1050 as standard, but this is only available as an optional extra. It's good to see the 17-inch version keeps its 1920 x 1200 pixels. A matte screen is available on all models except the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Battery life is increased, with the 15-inch model's battery upgraded from 73 to 77.5 Wh. Although the 17-inch MacBook Pro keeps the same battery, it should last a few minutes longer as the reduced consumption of the new components will help increase battery life across the range.

Prices

MacBook Pro laptops already have price tags that some consider make them fairly exclusive, and with the most-popular 15-inch models now starting at £1,499, that's easy to understand. The 17-inch MacBook Pro will start at £1,899 and the 13-inch model will start at £999 for the standard models.

Optional extras include swapping the storage system to a 128, 256 or 512 GB SSD or a 500 GB HDD, and the RAM can be increased to 16 GB. Unfortunately, as is often the way with Apple, these options don't come cheap!

If it ain't broke...

I'm pleased to see Apple has upgraded its range. In fact, an upgrade was certainly necessary to bring the MacBook Pro in line with the latest laptop PCs in terms of pure performance. On the other hand, Apple is not doing anything to make its products any more accessible, and for most of us, the classic, white and un-upgraded MacBook remains the only model that's just about affordable. It's a shame too, as these new MacBook Pro laptops are certainly attractive, and could really benefit from being a little less exclusive.

It's also worth noting the 13-inch version's lack of 'Optimus-like' technology allowing you to switch graphics management between graphics card and processor, as well as its lack of Core i processor, making this smaller, less expensive version a less appealing choice.

Another disappointment is that no model features a Blu-ray player. But then again, unlike the films sold on iTunes, Blu-ray won't make Apple any money...

On the whole, Apple has played it safe updating the MacBook Pro range. I would have hoped to see something a bit more cutting-edge like USB 3.0, for example, or some higher-power graphics cards. However, with no such features in sight, it looks like Apple is confident its products have nothing to fear from the competition.

Apple MacBook Air

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of Apple Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

A year after the Core 2 Duo MacBook Airs, Apple has now included the Core i5 in its 11.6-inch. Ultra-light, robust, sleek, with a wide touchpad and a backlit keyboard, this new model retains all the strengths of the previous version but with added oomph. The spec is a marvel on paper. Let's see how it stands up in our tests...

There's been no great change here on the previous generation and after all, what's there not to like? The speakers, placed under the keyboard, do better than on most netbooks and even than some notebooks. The sound isn't up there with the best laptops but when you think how little space there is here, you have to say Apple is doing well.

In terms of connectivity, the headphones socket works well but you only get the built-in mic and nothing else, so you can't use a headset here.

Featherweight, with decent battery like Apple A1245 Battery, Apple A1278 Battery, Apple A1280 Battery, Apple A1281 Battery, Apple MB771 Battery, Apple MacBook Pro 17 Battery, Apple M9007 Battery, Apple M9008 Battery, Apple M9184 Battery, Apple M9422 Battery life.

The increased CPU power hasn't cost the MacBook Air in battery life. In fact, it lasts 15 minutes longer than the 2010 version and gives 4h30 video playback. It weighs under 1.1 Kg and is small and slim (300 x 192 x 17 mm). The perfect travelling companion.

Hardware, design & build

The design hasn't changed since last year. You still get the brushed aluminium unibody shell Apple have used for the last few generations and it's still as resistant to scratches as well as having a faultless finish.

The keyboard with separated backlit keys (15 x 15 mm) is very nice to use. Supple and relatively quiet, it offers comfortable keying. A pleasure for word processing!

The multitouch touchpad is still just as wide and comfortable to use. The glide is fluid and precise. For those who've never used a Mac touchpad, you put one finger on the touchpad and click with another for the right click. For more information on usage, you can consult the explanatory video on the Apple site. All the detail on the combinations of movements for Mac OS X Lion are there. They're a real advance in terms of ease-of-use.

The webcam (1280 x 720 pixels) was disappointing. The image flickers and lacks detail. The dark zones lack differentiation in tone and blacken rapidly. It's not hard to find better.

As usual on the MacBook Air, the connectivity is pared right back. We have two USB ports, a headphones socket and the Thunderbolt (Apple's new dada) socket and that's it.

Thunderbolt is the name of the high speed connection used by Apple on all its latest products. It mixes the DisplayPort connector with Light Peak technology. Along the lines of FireWire, this all-in-one can link up up to 6 peripherals of any type, including those dedicated to video. Backwards compatibility with DisplayPort is assured, as long as the screen is the last link in the chain.

This socket can, for example, link this 11.6-inch up to the Apple Thunderbolt Display, a screen specially designed for the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro. It is, for the moment, one of the very few peripherals compatible with the Thunderbolt socket.

In terms of noise, the machine is inaudible if you don't glue your ear to the side of it. Unfortunately, when you push it to more demanding tasks, the heat increases to over 50°C in places.

Apple is highlighting the fact that the CPU comes from the Core i series but has omitted to mention that they're using a low energy consumption processor here. While the Core i5-2467M (processor index: 68), draws less power than the more common Core i5-2410M, it's also a lot slower in the execution of tasks.

Although between two and two and a half times faster than its 2010 antecedent, it's 30% slower than the Core i3-2310M that's found on numerous 13.3-inch ultraportable laptops. In terms of power, the closest machine to this MacBook Air is the Samsung Series 9 (processor index: 78).

Office documents, Internet browsing and other basic usage are therefore no problem for the MacBook Air 11.6-inch 2011 edition. Photo retouching, 3D modelling and other heavier tasks are not out of reach but require longer processing times than machines equipped with the Core i3-2310M (+27%) and i5-2410M (+58%).

The OS starts up in 17 seconds and it takes under 5 seconds to turn off.

High definition video playback, whether 1080p or 720p, poses no problem. In contrast to last year's model, there's no discreet graphics card for HD video decoding here. The Intel HD 3000 graphics chipset is perfectly able to handle this alone and Apple has therefore opted for no additional card and maximum battery life.

Like last year, the SSD makes for faster software installation and copying to an external hard drive and better overall machine responsiveness. It's also of course much more resistant to shocks than a standard hard drive.

Very limited gaming capacity

You can run recent games such as Starcraft 2 on the Intel GMA HD 3000, as long as you keep graphics options to a minimum. Not something for the enthusiasts then.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch 2011

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of Apple Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

So then, to the Apple MacBook Air 13.3-inch. After the strong showing by the 11.6-inch version, we were impatient to get our dirty little mitts on the 13.3-inch so we could tell you what it was capable of.

No great surprise to find the brushed aluminium chassis that has made the name of previous generations of MacBook Air. This shell resists scratching, is not subject to finger marks and looks very smart indeed. No issues with the finish!

The keyboard with separated backlit keys (15 x 15 mm) is very nice to use. Supple and relatively quiet, it offers comfortable keying. A pleasure for word processing!

The multitouch touchpad is still just as wide and comfortable to use. The glide is fluid and precise. For those who've never used a Mac touchpad, you put one finger down on it and click with another for the right click. For more information on usage, you can consult the explanatory video on the Apple site.

All the detail on the combinations of movements for Mac OS X Lion is also there, a real advance in terms of ease-of-use.

The webcam (1280 x 720 pixels) was disappointing. The image flickers and lacks detail. The dark zones lack any differentiation in tone and blacken rapidly. It's not hard to find better.

In spite of having a larger chassis than the 11.6-inch model, the connectivity hasn't progressed a great deal. In addition to the USB 2.0 port, the headphones socket and the thunderbolt socket, there's just an SD card reader on top. This does however put it on a level with the Samsung Series 9, its main competitor.

In terms of noise and heat, it behaves exactly like the MacBook Air 11.6-inch. Its fan is so quiet that you sometimes wonder if it's actually running at all. Temperatures get up above 50 °C in some places when you push it hard. If Apple intends to up the power on its next generation - something it's no doubt intending to do - it will have to have to revisit the cooling because it could start to become an issue.

Processor power: good performance

Like with the 11.6-inch, Apple has gone for a low consumption Core i5 for this 13.3-inch model. With the bigger screen, there has been a concomitant increase in power. It still won't match up to the Core i3-2310M, but it does at least move in front of the Samsung Series 9 and its Intel Core i5-2537M (processor index 78), with an index of 86 here.

This doesn't mean it can do a great deal more, but in the long run the time gained may make a difference, especially if you're intending to do a lot of work with intensive applications. On average, across our bank of tests including video editing and encoding, 3D modelling and file compression, it's 10% faster than the high end Samsung ultra.

The OS starts up in 23 seconds and it takes under 6 seconds to turn off.

Like last year, the SSD makes for reduced times for software installation, copying to an external hard drive and overall machine responsiveness. It's also of course much more resistant to shocks than a standard hard drive.

High definition video playback, whether 1080p or 720p, poses no problem. As with the 11.6-inch version, the graphics card, a drain on the battery such as Apple A1022 Battery, Apple M8760 Battery, Apple A1008 Battery, Apple A1061 Battery, Apple A1045 Battery, Apple A1175 Battery, Apple A1185 Battery, Apple M9324 Battery, Apple M8403 Battery, Apple M7318 Battery, has been removed and Apple is counting on the capacities of the Intel HD 3000 chipset to do everything on its own, at moderate energy consumption levels.

Gaming: an honest but limited showing

In gaming however this same chipset rapidly shows its limitations. It can run a few titles such as FIFA 11 on minimum settings but for anything more demanding, even if you push the resolution and graphics options right down, you're not guaranteed to be able to do any fluid gaming.

Audio: decent

No change from the 11.6-inch model here either. The sound is good for this sort of under-keyboard system, even if it's not up to the best of what you can get on a laptop. The headphones out is also of good quality, but unfortunately there's still no mic in. This really is a shame! Why?

Power combined with increased battery life

Like the 11.6-inch version, the 13.3-inch MacBook Air gives improved battery life. We measured the 2010 generation at 5h47 and this one at 6h12 under the same conditions (video playback, wi-fi off, headphones plugged in and screen at 100 cd/m²). There's been no change in terms of size and weight and it will still slip into a rucksack easily enough. At 1.35 Kg, you won't feel its weight too much either. An excellent choice for anyone who'll be carrying it around a lot.

Compaq Tablet PC TC1000

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of Compaq Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

A modern-day transformer, the HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1000 combines slate and convertible designs. When you first pull it from the box, it looks more like a convertible: You can lift and swivel its 10.4-inch display to reveal a keyboard, using the tablet as you would a notebook. But flip a latch on the underside of the screen and you can release the display from the keyboard entirely, transforming it into a 3.1-pound slate in a matter of seconds.

Though we applaud the TC1000's design concept, the execution doesn't live up to expectations. In notebook mode, it's quite awkward. The display sits uncomfortably close to the keyboard—with its 17.5-mm key pitch—and there is no rest area for your wrists as you type.

If you're in a cramped space, such as the coach seat of an airplane, and you're unable to tilt the display back far enough, you may have difficulty viewing content on your screen. This setup also makes it difficult to use the function keys, which are tiny anyway. But the keys are responsive, and the keyboard offers both a pointing stick and two well-placed mouse buttons.

In general, performance was below average, perhaps due to the software- dependent Transmeta Crusoe processor, which fights the OS and digital ink for task priority. The Battery such as Compaq Presario 1700 Battery, Compaq Armada E500 Battery, Compaq Armada V300 Battery, Compaq PP2060 Battery, Compaq Presario 1260 Battery, Compaq Presario 1220 Battery, Compaq Presario 1680 Battery, Compaq Presario N1050V Battery, Compaq Presario NX9005 Battery, Compaq Presario 1215 Battery test returned very good results: 3 hours 20 minutes.

Because this is the only tablet with a glass screen (the others use different types of plastics), the device is incapable of pressure-sensitive inking. Although that hurt the potential for running art applications at their best, it didn't hurt handwriting recognition. Thanks most likely to the hefty stylus, writing notes in freehand and turning them into digital text worked better than with most tablets.

The HP Compaq and Toshiba units are the only choices if you need two USB 2.0 ports. And for an additional $299, you can benefit from the TC1000's clever docking station. Once you've attached the tablet to the docking station, which has a DVD drive and myriad I/O ports, you can fix its display in a variety of positions. And as you switch between portrait and landscape, the Windows desktop rotates so that it's always right side up.

The TC1000 gets points for working as both a lightweight slate and a convertible. Unfortunately, its keyboard placement and unimpressive performance have us looking forward to the next version.

We recently took a 2000 mile road trip, and then flew back, allowing us to run a couple of benchmarks in hotels, a Jeep, and up in the air. Even though our test vehicle was limited by its 15 A fuse, that was more than enough current for Duracell’s 175 W Pocket Inverter. We tested the charge time from 0% with wireless networking disabled, using the lowest display brightness setting, and playing back a DivX-based movie.

Charging times are a double-edged sword. Ideally, you want a nice slow charge so that your battery lasts more than a few hundred charges. Fast charge times keep you away from the wall socket longer. but, in the long run, they cut down on the battery's health, too. Manufacturers utilize a variety of charging schemes to strike a balance. Usually, the rate of charge starts slowing down somewhere in the 80% to 95% range, which is why the charging time from 0% to 10% is faster than 90% to 100%.

Surprisingly, there is no difference between the three adapters like Apple iBook G3 14-inch Adapter, Apple M8576 Adapter, Apple MacBook 13-inch Adapter, Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch Adapter, Apple PowerBook 1400 Adapter, Apple M8243 Adapter, Apple M8942 Adapter, Apple A1021 Adapter, Apple A1184 Adapter, Apple A1036 Adapter, Apple iBook G4 14-inch Adapter, at least to charge to 100%. The battery in the notebook largely regulates the trickle charge, even when it's topping off from a constant current/constant voltage charging scheme. When you look at the charge from 5-10% (the only test available on the plane, given available time), Targus' Premium Laptop Charger seems to take a more cautious approach for the faster leg of the charge.

Using the Vostro 3300, we couldn't get the Duracell charger to work. It is the only charger of the three we tested that doesn't transmit an identification signal over the center pin. As a result, you can only power a Dell-based notebook; charging is completely disabled. There is no resolution to this problem, which you might experience if you buy your adapter on Ebay for a Dell notebook. Furthermore, you can't use a power inverter in tandem with the stock power adapter, and we're not sure why.

As a result, we had to run an additional benchmark using a 13.3" MacBook Pro to test the charging time of Duracell's charger compared to the other two. We ran it at maximum brightness, wireless enabled, and a custom benchmark for web browsing that mirrors our earlier RLUMark.

Overall, the Duracell product is basically the same flavor of laptop charger as the other two. Aside from its price, the main differences are found in its advantages. Duracell offers a three-year warranty compared to Targus' two years and the one-year coverage from Kensington. With that said, only Targus offers "Free Tips for Life." You simply have to pay for shipping on a tip that doesn't come with the original set ($5 for UPS Ground, plus tax if you live in California).

We wanted to throw in a benchmark from a generic Ebay charger, but the one we bought off some guy in Hong Kong died two days into testing. That goes to show that you get what you pay for; buy generic power equipment and you're putting the purchase and whatever it's connected to at risk. Sounds like reason enough for us to invest in a solid adapter, if we're going to buy anything at all.

Apple Exchanging MacBook Pro Batteries

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist

Apple is offering a worldwide battery "exchange" program for selected batteries sold with its MacBook Pro portables.

Citing performance rather than safety issues, Apple Computer has introduced a free worldwide “exchange” program for some batteries such as Apple A1175 Battery, Apple A1185 Battery, Apple M9324 Battery, Apple M8403 Battery, Apple M7318 Battery, apple PowerBook G3 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 Battery, Acer UM08B73 battery, Acer UM08B71 battery, Acer UM08A31 battery, Acer Aspire One Battery, Acer UM08A73 battery sold with its Intel-based MacBook Pro line of portable computers.

Batteries eligible for the program were sold with MacBook Pro systems from February to May, 2006, and have the model number A1175 and a 12-digit serial number which ends with U7SA, U7SB or U7SC. Battery model and serial numbers are on the bottom of the battery: you have to remove it from the MacBook Pro in order to see them. (Be sure your computer is shut down or at least plugged into its power adapter before removing the battery!)

Apple will replace eligible batteries free of charge. According to the company, this recall is based solely on performance concerns, and there are no safely issues with the batteries eligible for exchange: customers may continue to use their current batteries until replacements arrive. The exchange program follows a few months of reports that some batteries shipped with MacBook Pro systems have failed, shut off without warning, or report incorrect status information to the computer.

Customers can exchange up to three batteries by filling out an online form, individuals or organizations with more than three batteries to exchange need to call Apple to make arrangements. Apple says it will have localized versions of the exchange program form online by August 4, 2006.

Apple to Replace Swollen MacBook Batteries

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of Apple Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

Apple has finally admitted to a problem with some batteries in its MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks, offering to replace batteries which have problems or "deform."

Ever since Apple introduced its Intel-based MacBook and MacBook Pro notebook computers in 2006, there have been sporadic buy persistent reports of problems with the batteries included in the units—independent of the recall of 1.8 million notebook batteries made for Apple by Sony, or a performance-related replacement program for MacBook Pro batteries the company launched in 2006. Typical problems would be a failure to charge when plugged into an AC adapter, low runtimes even though the battery had been cycled comparatively few times, and the computers’ failure to recognize some batteries like apple PowerBook G3 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 15inch Battery, Apple A1012 Battery, Apple M8511 Battery, Apple M8244 Battery, Apple A1079 Battery, Apple A1078 Battery, Apple A1148 Battery, Apple M6091 Battery. More recently, reports have been surfacing of “swollen” and “deformed” MacBook batteries, which appear to be bursting from their casings.

In response, Apple has launched a combined software update and battery replacement program; if the software fix doesn’t work, Apple will let users make reservations to have their batteries replaced at an Apple Retail Store or authorized service center.

Symptoms of affected batteries include the battery not being recognized by the computer, the battery failing to charge when the computer is plugged into the AC adapter, or having a low charge/runtime after having been cycled fewer than 300 times. If the battery pack is visibly deformed or swollen, it is also eligible for replacement.

The battery update software is available via Mac OS X’s Software Update feature or as a separate download; Apple says the update should be run on all MacBook and MacBook Pro computers and extra batteries that were purcahsed between February 2006 and April 2007. Affected batteries will be replaced free of charge, regardless of whether the associated computer is out of warranty. Apple is also extending repair coverage on batteries used on systems with Intel Core Duo processors to two years from date of purchase.

According to Apple, none of the battery problems—even the swelling—present any safety risk, and MacBook and MacBook Pro owners can continue to use their current batteries.

Researcher Claims Apple Batteries

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of Apple Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.Com

Of all the hundreds of thousands of computer viruses, trojans, rootkits, and worms that have been written since 'Elk Cloner' first appeared in the wild in 1981, the overwhelming majority of them have targeted computer software. Attacking computer hardware directly isn't impossible now (and wasn't then), but it tends to be extremely difficult to pull off en masse. It is therefore a touch unusual to see security researcher Charlie Miller claiming that Apple batteries represent a security flaw.

Miller will present his findings and provide a solution at the upcoming Black Hat conference, which runs from July 30 - August 4 in Las Vegas. General details, however, are -already available. Modern 'smart' batteries contain microcontrollers that monitor battery capacity, ensure that the storage cell isn't ever overcharged, and are capable of a certain degree of thermal management. Unfortunately, the batteries such as Apple A1175 Battery, Apple A1185 Battery, Apple M9324 Battery, Apple M8403 Battery, Apple M7318 Battery, apple PowerBook G3 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 15inch Battery, Apple A1012 Battery, Apple M8511 Battery, in at least some Macbook, Macbook Air, and Macbook Pro systems were all shipped out using default username/passwords.

As if all the ways people might be spying on you normally isn't freaky enough, now the call is coming from inside the house

Miller was able to reverse engineer the necessary data by analyzing a 2009 update Apple pushed out to address Macbook battery concerns. According to Forbes, he's since been able to force the battery to report whatever charge level he ordered it to show, and report the battery as having failed when it hadn't done so. He's also had no trouble deliberately killing batteries and has completely re-written the firmware to demonstrate how it could be used to conceal malware in an area virtually no one—even experienced IT staff—would ever think to look.

“You could put a whole hard drive in, reinstall the software, flash the BIOS, and every time it would reattack and screw you over. There would be no way to eradicate or detect it other than removing the battery." Miller told Forbes. The researcher, who has worked for the National Security Agency, acknowledged that the use-the-battery-as-malware-storage trick would need an additional vulnerability in order to hook into the operating system. He noted, however, that "Presumably Apple has never considered that as an attack vector, so it’s very possible it’s vulnerable.”

As hacks go, this is one of the more interesting we've heard of. As recently as a few years ago, even the smartest of smart batteries wouldn't have had enough on-device ROM to store "Hello World," much less any form of malware. Apple has yet to comment on the situation; Miller's presentation will likely contain additional info on which laptop models are affected. He's also developed a tool--nicknamed Caulkgun--that laptop owners can use to randomize their password and prevent this sort of attack, but warns that it comes with a caveat. Locking the battery down in this manner would also prevent Apple from implementing any of their own updates or changes, and could possibly lead to headaches down the line for legitimate customers in need of warranty service.

Power Adapter Technology

Welcome to a Ac Adapter specialist
of Apple Ac Adapter   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

Power supplies can be used to convert one form of energy into another. Power supplies may take the form of adapters, a kind of technology that enables current voltage and direction to be modified.

Definition

Power adapter technology rectifies one type of current such as AC (alternating current) voltage input to obtain DC, or direct current voltage output. Rectification is the process of converting AC current, which can reverse direction, into a current that flows in one direction, or direct current (DC). Inverting a current via a power adapter changes DC current to AC current.

Switching-Mode Power Adapter Technology

Alternating current, or AC, contains both positive and negative polarity, which enables it to change current direction.

Switching-mode power adapter technology uses rectification to force both polarities move in one direction to output DC voltage via diodes, or components designed to enable electrical currents to flow in one direction and block current flowing in the opposite direction.

Linear Power Adapter Technology

Linear power adapter technology uses large mains-frequency transformers to convert AC voltage to DC voltage. Transformers send out electrical energy from one current to another via conductor coils. These conductor coils are composed of material that enables the free flow of electrical current.

Power adapters (or power supplies) such as Apple iBook G3 14-inch Adapter, Apple White 12-inch Adapter, Apple MacBook 13-inch Adapter, Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch Adapter, Apple PowerBook 1400 Adapter, Apple M8243 Adapter, Apple M8942 Adapter, Apple A1021 Adapter, Apple A1184 Adapter, Apple 611-0186 Adapter are a ubiquitous part of our electronics-laden lifestyle.

A power adapter takes the output of one power source, like a 120-volt AC wall socket, and converts it to a different output, for example a 19.5-volt power supply for a laptop computer. Usually these devices work dependably and without worry. But if you find the electronics devices that you have connected to a power adapter are not working properly or that their batteries are not charging, there's always the possibility that the power adapter is not doing its job. With the right tool, however, you can check the output of your power adapter and see if that's the source of the problem.

Examine your power adapter. Every power adapter will have the input voltage and amperage requirements printed on it, as well as the output voltage and amperage rating. We'll be testing the output of the power adapter, so write down the specs. An example would be this, taken from a laptop power adapter: Output - 19.5V....3.34 amps. We'll measure the output of the power adapter with a multimeter -- a very handy tool for anyone working with electronics. A multimeter can measure voltage, current, power output and resistance of electrical circuits by touching the electrical circuits or device with a set of probes. See Additional Resources for a good tutorial on multimeters.

Set your multimeter to the proper range for measuring the output of your power adapter. Take into account the voltage and the amperage you'll be measuring. Consult the manual for specifics on how to set your particular model of multimeter.

Check the data plate of your power adapter to find out which portion of the plug is positive and which is negative. For example, on some power adapter plugs, the outer shell of the plug is positive, while on others it's negative.

Touch the probes of your multimeter to the corresponding portions of the power adapter's plug and note the readout. Compare that with the rated output of the power adapter. If it varies significantly, replace the power adapter.

Noted Things About Laptop Battery Life

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of Apple Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

As the technology is getting more andmore developed, laptops are becoming much more powerful and smaller. However, it seems that developers of portable computers do not pay much attention to laptop battery life - which is considered as one of the important factor in portable computers. The average laptop model today at most can last up to 2.5 hours of normal use on one full charge. it is neceaasry for you to find a power socket nearby if you want to use it any longer than that.

Today, there are only a handful of laptops out there in the market that can withstand more than 5 hours of regular use on a single charge. The word 'portability' with regards to laptops seems to be limited to the fact that you can bring your computer everywhere, but not use it anywhere. Most laptop manufacturers claim that the laptop has 4 - 5 hours of battery life, but that is only true if you leave the laptop idle.

Fortunately, there are certain laptop models that you can get your hands on if you dream of using your laptop on battery for extended periods of time.

At the time of writing, one of the most impressive battery spans can be found on the Apple MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz (2008 edition). On regular use, the battery such as apple PowerBook G3 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 15inch Battery, Apple A1012 Battery, Apple M8511 Battery, Apple M8244 Battery, Apple A1079 Battery, Apple A1078 Battery, Apple A1148 Battery, Apple M6091 Battery lasted to an astounding 4.5 hours! Other laptop models with good battery life spans include the Acer Aspire 8920G, the Asus Eee series, the Fujitsu LifeBook series and the Toshiba Satellite Series.

If you are looking to get more hours of battery life, consider getting an extended battery pack for your laptops. These extended batteries are basically larger batteries for your laptop that provides an average of extra 2 hours of use on your laptop. If that is still not enough, you can consider getting an external laptop battery. These are basically huge external batteries (sometimes as big as the laptop itself), that when plugged in can provide up to an extra 9 hours of use. The downside of external laptop batteries is that they are quite bulky and heavy (up to 1.5 kg)

Regardless of the model of laptop and the type of batteries that you use, there are several basic tricks that you can use to extend your laptop's battery life. One of the easiest ways is to make use of the your computer's power settings. This option can usually be found when you click on the battery icon on your tool bar. When on battery, make sure that the option is set to a 'power saver' mode. In this option, there will be a slight compromise in your laptop's performance for a longer battery life.

Another easy way to extend your battery's life is to dim the display screen. Lower the brightness of your laptop's display to the minimum and you will notice a considerable increase in your battery's life.

Generally it is not good to keep your fully charged battery plugged in when the power point is plugged in. The constant 'over-charging' will decrease the performance of the battery over time. Also, try to only charge the battery when it is fully drained.

Options For Macbook Pro Battery Replacement

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Apple Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

Apple's MacBook Pro computers have a battery that is supposedly non removable. Although the unibody design will keeps the cost of the product and help to keep the MacBook Pros small in size, it also does away with the ability to rapidly replace the battery. The fact is that Apple says the battery isn't removable at all unless the do the replacing. This is totally untrue. Either you can have Apple replace the battery or you can have a repair shop replace the battery or you can replace the battery yourself. Having Apple replace it is the most expensive (unless it is under warranty) and replacing it your self is the least expensive.

The MacBook Pro battery is removable. Although, it requires access to the bottom chassis, the battery is actually not hard to remove or to replace. The battery is secured in three places on the inside the MacBook Pro's case. However, users can definitely replace the battery by themselves but it will probably void the warranty.

Here is all that you have to do to replace a MacBook Pro battery: Apple A1175 Battery, Apple A1185 Battery, Apple M9324 Battery, apple PowerBook G3 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 15inch Battery, Apple A1012 Battery, Apple A1079 Battery, Apple A1078 Battery, Apple A1148 Battery, Apple M6091 Battery.

The first step that you need to do in order to replace your MacBook Pro battery is to identify the size of the laptop computer that you have. The 13" and the 15" models have a common battery design while the 17" laptop computer has its own on account of the larger screen and therefore the requirement for additional power.

Next, you will have to contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider, Apple Online, or an Apple retail store to get a replacement for your MacBook Pro battery. The 13" and 15" batteries both cost the same $129 plus tax and the 17" battery is $179 plus tax. These prices both include the cost of installation.

It will depend on where you have the battery replace in the MacBook, but you will either need to take it to the Apple store or send it in via mail. The advantage of the Apple store is that they will replace the battery the same day. The option to mail the battery in usually takes somewhere between 3 to 4 days after the battery is received. The turnaround times for authorized service providers varies.

If you decide to replace the battery yourself there are detailed instructions on the Internet on how to do so. Your only other option is to have a repair shop replace the battery.

The dead battery charger means the charger can not work : can not charge the laptop battery or can not run the laptop. When our laptop battery can not charge, we must check the battery and charger state. Now let me list the steps of test our battery and charger below.

Make sure the battery charger cable is plugged in and the output is to power.

Look closely at the battery. Is there corrosion or leakage? If so, replace the battery immediately.

Test the charger. For DC chargers, a voltmeter set at 25 VDC and touch the contacts with the probes. The meter should read about more than 1 V Evaluation of the shipper. If the reading is zero, change battery catheters.

Testing a AC charger through the establishment of a voltmeter to 25 VAC. Tap the contact probes. The transformer in the charger is bad if you get no reading.

Take Care Of You Laptop Battery Or Else

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist
of the Apple Laptop Battery   First post by: www.batterystores.ca

Laptops are common now; most people have them to take to school or when they travel for work. They're useful and easy to move with. What is also common is to see someone scrambling to find a place to charge a laptop battery. That report due tomorrow may suddenly be lost if you don't find an outlet within thirty seconds... Or that slideshow you have created (but carelessly forgot to save) may disappear if your laptop battery is not recharged.

As common as laptops are now, it is just as common to see individuals forgetting that the machine needs a little bit of help to run. It does not magically power itself; the battery does not somehow manage to stay full as you work for hours at a time. Yet, many seem to think that their battery does just that. No matter how long they stay hunched over the machine, it will work.

A few times of having the laptop die will cure that fantasy.

The truth is: you must keep your laptop charged. Yes, one of the advantages of having a laptop is that you can take it anywhere; it does not require you to remain plugged into the wall. That still does not mean that you can expect the laptop to run with a low battery. Yes, you can walk around with it; yes, you can wander away from your plug. You still should return, however, when your computer tells you it's low.

And they do tell you. Laptops feature a symbol at the top of the screen that allows you to see just how much your battery is charged. The lower it drops, the less time you have. This is basic. Anyone will even a small trace of knowledge should know and understand this. Yet, too many people risk losing everything to squeeze out an

extra minute on their battery such as apple PowerBook G3 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 15 inch Battery, Apple A1012 Battery, Apple M8511 Battery, Apple M8244 Battery, Apple A1079 Battery, Apple A1078 Battery, Apple A1148 Battery, Apple M6091 Battery. These are the same people who try to frantically finish a report as opposed to saving and heading to their charger, only to lose the majority of it when the computer quits. And these are the same people who swear they will never do it again, but forget that promise the next time around.

Laptop batteries have short ives. They can fail as quickly as thirty minutes. Some last longer, of course, but the result is still the same: if you are not careful and don't pay attention, the battery will die. Of course, laptops offer warnings when a battery is low. Often, a small screen will pop up to remind you that the time is almost there. Still, thinking you can simply ignore that screen since you're busy is not the wisest of moves.

This are basic ideas, and you may be rolling your eyes, wondering who would be so foolish. But it does happen, all-too-often it happens. Because of this, you must make an effort to remember that, as convenient as your laptop is, it is still a machine and therefore needs care. Check your laptop battery and keep it charged.

Laptop Batteries - Why Do They've a Short Lifespan

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist
of the Apple Laptop Battery   First post by: www.batterystores.ca

Should you do very own a laptop, you ought to know that they're basically as portable as the next discount retailer. Most firms that promote their laptop batteries manufacture these equipments to ensure that they might be applied any exactly where and there might be no setback but there is a setback. You just have a couple of hours maximum of typical word processing kind and then you might be accomplished except for those who have a backup battery or you may have a location to plug it in to revive it. Once more, the other difficulty is the fact that numerous locations which you go and would appreciate to make use of your laptop usually do not have sufficient power outlets and so you will be stocked. This is just the easy truth.

Therefore, my crucial question is why on earth are laptop batteries so negative? In other to get an answer for this question, i'm going to complete a search on the net and make an effort to find as a lot details as you possibly can and then I will go ahead to pack it into the following two paragraphs or so. Nicely we'll like to start with what virtually all batteries are built of and which is Lithium Ion cells (older laptop batteries had been constructed of nickel cadmium). Honestly, these batteries possess a great deal of added benefits including no memory and no scheduled cycling (That does not imply precisely that it is a valuable perception to frequently run your battery dead). The fact is, these batteries are rather low to sustain.

Nonetheless, just because their cell oxidation can not be changed through cycling, there's a definite and small lifespan for these batteries such as apple PowerBook G3 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 Battery, Apple PowerBook G4 15 inch Battery, Apple A1012 Battery, Apple M8511 Battery, Apple M8244 Battery, Apple A1079 Battery, Apple A1078 Battery, Apple A1148 Battery, Apple M6091 Battery. This must be around two to 3 years and just isn't necessarily lengthened by not making use of them as oxidation goes on within the kind of self discharge also as when stored. Indeed, it can be advised that we shop these batteries at about 40 to 45% capability and in a cool spot. Be conscious that the 40% capability gives it the energy to self discharge gradually with no going dead fully (that is really poor for these laptop batteries).

In reality, these laptop batteries will oxidize really gradually in cooler temperatures which prolongs their lifespan. Furthermore, these power cells are not intended for long-term storage as previously said because the self discharge will drain it each and every now and then to the point of no return. The basis why these contemporary laptop batteries expense so much than they made use of to be is for the cause that they do require an internal circuit that stops it from acquiring overcharged. In addition, overcharging may also induce the battery to high temperature and as a such they could burst into flames.
