The Physiological Factors Behind the Terrifying But Harmless Phenomenon of Sleep Paralysis

In a somatic episode of Life Noggin, narrator Pat Graziosi who voices the animated Blocko explained the terrifying but harmless experience of sleep paralysis, the physiological reasons why it occurs, why some people see hallucinations during an episode and what can be done to stop these events from occurring. Usually, people wake up when their brains are in the non-REM phase, but sometimes you wake up when you’re still in REM sleep. …During REM sleep, neurotransmitters like GABA and glycine basically turn off, your muscles to make sure you don’t act out your dreams. So if you wake up before a REM cycle is over, your muscles are still sleeping, so you can’t move, even if you’re fully awake. Your chest muscles are turned off too, with the exception of your diaphragm. That’s why people experience shortness of breath or feel pressure on their chest. … In sleep paralysis, your mind is still partially dreaming, leading to hallucinations that can feel super real. find battery medical batteries online : Anritsu SM204 Battery, Anritsu 633-44 Battery, Philips ME202C Battery,

Compaq Presario C700t User Review

The Compaq Presario C700t is HP's current budget 15.4" widescreen notebook. It is available with limited configuration on-line from HP.com and is also available in retail stores. In case you see a few of them popping up on eBay it was recently offered as one of Best Buy's door buster specials this holiday season. In a nutshell, I'd liken the C700T to Dell's Vostro 1000 with a budget Intel processor.

Specifications:

Reasons for Buying

My $500 Black Friday special from last year, a Cisnet ncl3001 "NASCAR Laptop" - a rebadged AOpen Notebook 2000, began having keyboard problems a few days after its 1-year warranty expired. It had been a terrible laptop all year with serious stability issues that were never resolved despite repeated efforts and returns. I hit the stores and websites this year looking for the best value I could get for a limited budget.

I only needed a basic laptop for general office work and web surfing. I am concerned with battery life, but I've never had any concerns with weight on my laptops (my favorite laptop of all time is still my old P-III Panasonic Toughbook, which tipped the scales at over 10-lbs). I haven't been a gamer since leaving college years ago, but I do enjoy the occasional new strategy or RPG title. I did my research and figured that any of the modern IGP's would suit my needs just fine.

When you limit yourself to about $500 there are not many alternatives to the 6-pound, 15.4", integrated graphics, budget Celeron or Sempron specials that seem to keep constantly showing up in all the weekend flyers. I decided that I would not settle for anything lower than an entry level dual-core processor and I didn't want to mess with any sort of mail-in rebate. I expected at least a 100GB hard drive and a DVD burner with Vista Home Premium - everything else I considered to be gravy.

Shopping

There were several good special available at a variety of places this year. By the time I saw the really good on-line Dell Vostro specials they were already sold out. I watched all the Christmas sale flyers and hit the stores regularly for about a week. There were a few AMD-based Gateway models that were available in retail for a similar price, but the choices were pretty limited. I must say that there has been a great improvement in the budget laptop sector this year. Last year the only way to find anything less than $500 was to get one of the door-buster specials. Even then they were always a single-core, already obsolete notebook of questionable durability. This year there are several options for sub-$500 notebooks from all the big vendors that are generally available and even have current generation technology.

The Compaq Presario C714NR, regularly priced at $599, showed up on Best Buy's website at $449 but promptly sold out. Best Buy's weekly flyer priced it at $399 with limited availability. I woke up a bit early the day the sale started and was lucky enough to be number six in line with eight available at the store. By the time they opened there were about 100 people in line (which isn't that bad if you've ever shopped the Black Friday sales on the East Coast). I had made my purchase and was out of the store before everyone in line had a chance to enter the building.

For those that missed the sale, be sure to check the "Laptop Deals" section in this site as they frequently post HP coupons. You probably won't be able to find a model with a similar configuration for the price I paid, but low-end models do often drop to less than $500 with a good coupon.

Compaq Mini Netbook with Verizon 4G LTE

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Compaq Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

This 10-inch netbook features built-in Verizon 4G LTE wireless and is available exclusively from Verizon for $149.99 with a two-year contract. Our review looks at the netbook itself and the Verizon wireless network to help you find out if this is a good deal for your budget.

Build and Design

The Compaq Mini has an unassuming black plastic exterior. The anti-glare chassis is nice however the glossy screen lid gets fingerprinted up immediately and looks unclean. There's little to say about the design overall; it's utilitarian with no extras and similiar to the design of HP Mini line of netbooks.

The netbook feels relatively solid and is easy to carry around thanks to its weight of 3.1 lbs and small footprint. It should stand up to the rigors of everyday travel assuming it isn't tossed around; I highly recommend a protective sleeve or bag even though it's tempting to toss such a small laptop in a backpack or purse.

The Compaq Mini wasn't designed to be upgraded; there are no user-accessible panels on the bottom of the chassis. The battery like Compaq Armada M700 Battery, Compaq EVO N400c Battery, Compaq EVO N410c Battery, Compaq EVO N600C Battery, Compaq EVO N610C Battery, Compaq EVO N620C Battery, Compaq Presario 1200 Battery, Compaq Presario 1800 Battery, Compaq Presario 700 Battery, Compaq Presario 900 Battery is the only component that can be removed and replaced easily.

Ports and Features

This netbook includes a respectable number of ports including three USB 2.0 ports and a media card reader. It has a VGA port for connecting to projectors but lacks HDMI and DisplayPort. All picture descriptions are left to right.

Keyboard and Touchpad

This netbook includes a 90% full-size keyboard. It’s excellent. It feels rock solid and has plenty of tactile feedback; this keyboard is better than all of those found on the new Ultrabook class computers we’ve tested (the ASUS Zenbook and the Toshiba Portege Z835). There is no backlighting. This keyboard more than suffices for casual use.

The touchpad is small but functional. The anti-glare surface is easy to track on. The touchpad buttons could be a bit quieter but offer good feedback.

Screen and Speakers

The 10-inch screen is small and just average in picture quality. The 1024x600 screen resolution is far too low to use for extended periods; too much scrolling is required in web pages and using two windows side by side is about impossible. The screen has some positive aspects such as its practical anti-glare coating (this means no reflections in well-lit areas).

The two stereo speakers located under the palm rest are better than expected though don't get particularly loud. They’re satisfactory for casual listening.

Compaq Presario CQ40

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist

The Compaq Presario CQ40 is another budget laptop contender vying for your money. It's a petite 14-inch laptop, breaking the monotone of 15-inch notebooks in the Top 5. It has a black screen lid with a characteristic Q fashioned across its face. The innards are two-toned, with the black pronounced on the bezel and keyboard, but the palmrest and touchpad are washed with silver. It is a no-nonsense laptop, and looks the part as well.

It has a standard hardware configuration: a Core 2 Duo T6400 2-GHz processor, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 250GB hard drive, along with three USB ports, onboard Altec Lansing speakers, a DVD writer, and an HDMI port. It also lacks Gigabit Ethernet and Draft-N Wi-Fi, a trend synonymous with all the budget laptops except the winner, the Acer Aspire 5738. Its 14-inch screen supports a maximum screen resolution of 1280x800 pixels, and it comes with a 1.3MP webcam grooved at the center of its top screen bezel.

The keyboard is one of the best of the lot, and it has a responsive touchpad as well. What's more, there's a small button placed between the touchpad and the keyboard that lets you switch off the touchpad for uninterrupted writing—a nifty feature that. There's also a Wi-Fi toggle switch placed next to the power on button, above the keyboard.

Performance isn't much different from the rest, as the Compaq Presario CQ40 has hardware similar to others. A WorldBench score of 82 and a battery such as compaq 398832-001 battery, compaq 405231-001 battery, compaq 407672-001 battery, compaq EG415AA battery, compaq HSTNN-A10C battery, compaq HSTNN-A14C battery, compaq HSTNN-CB25 battery, compaq Presario B1000 battery, compaq Presario B3800 battery, compaq Presario B2800 battery life of just under 3 hours from the CQ40 is admirable, and its onboard speakers are pretty good by laptop standards. It is also the lightest laptop in the comparison, weighing just a paltry 2.2-kg. If you want a 14-inch budget laptop with good performance and at the right price, the Compaq Presario CQ40 is definitely worth a shot.

Bottom Line

The most petite 14-inch contender, the Compaq Presario CQ40 has one of the best keyboards in the lineup, and has all the requisite features you would expect from a budget laptop that is priced at Rs. 36,500.

Compaq Presario CQ62-105TU

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of Compaq Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

The new Compaq Presario CQ62-105TU is a 15.6-inch laptop based on Intel's Core i3-330M processor, primarily aimed at home usage. It has a unique texture on its body, offers decent performance, and sells for a very good price.

Design

It is hard to miss the Compaq Presario CQ62's cover design. The guys at HP-Compaq Presario have done a very good job of sprucing up the Compaq CQ62's look and feel, . The silver-colored biscotti screen lid is covered entirely in an elaborate pattern of bars, forming minuscule triangles all over the place. Although made of plastic, the CQ62's screen lid looks elegant and feels premium. And the textured surface is splashed all over the palmrest, touchpad, and the space engulfing the Compaq CQ62's black keyboard. The Compaq Presario CQ62-105TU laptop's chassis edge is covered with a smooth silver-colored strip, thereby distinguishing itself in terms of looks from other laptops featured in our Top 5 Budget Laptops list. It's definitely a very good looking laptop, the CQ62-105TU, with its two-toned black-on-silver color scheme -- better than the Compaq Presario CQ40-536TX we reviewed earlier.

For a budget home laptop, the Compaq Presario CQ62-105TU is very well built. Its 15.6-inch screen is tethered well to the rest of the chassis with two solid metal hinges. And for a 15-inch laptop, with six-cell battery like compaq 367759-001 battery, compaq 367760-001 battery, compaq 375942-001 battery, compaq 375974-001 battery, compaq 382552-001 battery, compaq 383493-001 battery, compaq 391883-001 battery, compaq 396601-001 battery, compaq 397164-001 battery, compaq 398065-001 battery, the Compaq Presario CQ62-105TU weighs just 2.5-kg -- lighter compared to some other 15-inch laptops like the Acer Aspire 5740, Lenovo Ideapad Y550, or Sony VAIO E.

Usability

The Compaq Presario CQ62-105TU comes with a 15.6-inch LED-backlit glossy screen which supports a maximum screen resolution of 1366x768 pixels. The CQ62's screen is evenly lit but a little less bright compared to the screens of Acer Aspire 4740 and Dell Inspiron 15-1564 laptops. However, both reading text and watching movies is handled well by the Compaq Presario CQ62's 15.6-inch screen, and it has average viewing angles. A 1.3MP webcam and microphone recessed on the laptop's top screen bezel is nice enough for video chats over Skype.

The keyboard and touchpad on the Compaq Presario CQ62-105TU tell their own interesting story. The keyboard appears similar to the one that Dell Inspiron 14R has, but the keys are more tightly packed on the CQ62's keyboard. The keys are well laid out, nice and springy to type on, and all the important keys (Enter, Space, Shift, Arrow Keys, etc.) are prominent in size. A column of quick-launch buttons on the Compaq Presario CQ62-105TU's keyboard's left edge is something we don't see on most budget laptops -- dedicated buttons to launchcalculator, print documents, launch Web browser, and launch email client are nice to have. The Compaq Presario CQ62's touchpad is textured like the rest of its body and a little raised above the keyboard. We like the textured touchpad surface, but we hate the fact that the touchpad doesn't have any distinguishing borders on either edge. It's very easy to move out of the touchpad area while trying to move the mouse on screen. But we like the overall feel and response of the touchpad.

Big sale of newest Apple computers

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of Apple Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

It’s not the first time Australian retailer Dick Smith’s has lopped 10% off Apple notebooks and desktops, but with the discounts also applying to the 2011 releases of the MacBooks, iMacs and Mac Minis this is your first chance to get the latest Apple hardware at less than the standard retail price.

Most have the new Intel Core i5/i7 processors and the much lauded Thunderbolt I/O ports, which are able to transfer files at dramatically faster speeds than previous USB 2.0 ports. The 2011 MacBook Pro line is definitely worth a close look if you want a super stylish notebook or desktop replacement. The Dick Smith sale ends this Sunday.

Among the discounted Apples, one of the choicest (and sexiest) is the 2011 Apple MacBook Air 11in (64GB) include batteries such as Apple A1022 Battery, Apple M8760 Battery, Apple A1008 Battery, Apple A1061 Battery, Apple A1045 Battery, Apple A1175 Battery, Apple A1185 Battery, Apple M9324 Battery, Apple M8403 Battery, Apple M7318 Battery for $989.10. Leaving aside its amazing razor-thin looks, its Intel Core i5-2467M processor is surprisingly powerful given that it’s low-voltage, and when paired to a 64GB solid state drive, this combination delivers excellent performance in this inspiringly slim package, even if the RAM is just 2GB. Plus you get the usual excellent MacBook build quality, a Thunderbolt port and a backlit keyboard.

The next bargain of note is the mid-range 2.5GHz version of the Mac Mini for $809.10. Packing both an Intel Core i5 and an AMD Radeon HD 6630M dedicated graphics card (for only $100 more than the RRP of the base model 2.3GHz Mac Mini) it's a tiny but powerful and stylish little desktop.

Those seeking a big notebook should consider the MacBook Pro 17in. This large screen giant was the biggest beneficiary of the February updates to the MacBook Pro line, receiving an Intel Core i7-2720QM processor and an AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics card. For $2,609.10 it's nearly $300 less than RRP, giving it one the biggest price drops in Dick Smith's sale.

Among the other discounted Macs, there's an Apple MacBook 13in for $989.10. This is pretty cheap for a MacBook of any kind, but be aware this model has an obsolete Intel Core 2 Duo processor that's completely outclassed by the new Intel Core i5s present in the slighly more expensive MacBook Pro line. For instance, while the entry level 13in MacBook Pro is $1,259.10, it's still a much better buy because you get drastically better hardware for a couple of hundred dollars more.

Also think hard before being tempted to buy an older 2010 model MacBook Air 11in (128GB) for $989.10 or (64GB) for $809.10. Even with the lower price, they aren’t as good value as the newer 2011 models, which have vastly better processors, Thunderbolt ports and backlit keyboards.

A sale of 10% is about as big a discount as you’re going to get on an Apple product here in Australia. There's bargains across the 2011 and older 2010 models, but bear in mind that the newest models are really a big jump ahead of the previous generation Apples.

Compaq chows out cheap AMD notebook

Last year we talked about a Compaq ultraportable notebook that was aimed at business users called the 2230s. We haven't heard much form HP-owned Compaq since then. The computer company is back two new laptops for users on a budget. The new machines are aimed at businesses and are part of the Compaq Essentials line.

The first of the new notebooks is the Compaq 515 with a retail price starting at $US429. Directly translated to Australian dollars, that's $AU511, but the actual price is closer to $700 at Australian retailers. The machine features a 1366 x 768 screen, 2.1GHz AMD Athlon X2 QL-64 CPU, 2GB of RAM, and ATI HD 3200 graphics. Storage for the notebook is to a 160GB HDD and the machine runs Windows Vista. The rig is smallish, though of average weight at about 2.3KG, sports an internal DVD drive, and runs a 6-cell battery like compaq 398832-001 battery, compaq 405231-001 battery, compaq 407672-001 battery, compaq EG415AA battery, compaq HSTNN-A10C battery, compaq HSTNN-A14C battery, compaq HSTNN-CB25 battery, compaq Presario B1000 battery, compaq Presario B3800 battery, compaq Presario B2800 battery.

The other new Compaq notebook is the 610 selling for $US20 more than its little brother at $US449 -- though in Australia we are paying significantly more for this model, with street prices closer to $900. For the extra loot, you get a larger 15.6-inch LCD with the same 1366 x 768 resolution. The CPU is a 1.86GHz Intel Celeron T1500 dual-core and the system has 2GB of RAM with graphics by Intel GMA X3100. Storage is to a 250GB HDD and the machine runs Windows Vista.

HP Compaq 6730b

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of Compaq Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.com

No one will mistake the HP Compaq 6730b for anything other than what it is: A button-downed business notebook. Not that there's anything wrong with that. The system runs circles around lower-end models, secures data using fingerprint recognition, and supports the latest Wi-Fi standards. Plus, its battery like compaq 398832-001 battery, compaq 405231-001 battery, compaq 407672-001 battery, compaq EG415AA battery, compaq HSTNN-A10C battery, compaq HSTNN-A14C battery, compaq HSTNN-CB25 battery, compaq Presario B1000 battery, compaq Presario B3800 battery, compaq Presario B2800 battery life would make the Energizer Bunny jealous. But although suitable for suit-wearing travelers, the 6730b seems overpriced and underpowered, at least in the graphics department, compared with the similar Lenovo ThinkPad SL400.

Stretching the definition of a thin-and-light, the 6730b weighs a hair under six pounds and measures 1.3x14x10.5 inches (HWD), a decent compromise for users who want a portable that's big enough to replace a desktop yet small enough to actually travel with. You can get it in any color you like, as long as it's matte-silver with a black keyboard. Dull, yes, but like a boring business suit with a splash of pocket-square color, the 6730b has one decorative bit of flair: an LED-lit, touch-sensitive strip of quick-launch and volume-control buttons. (It even works when the notebook is off. Simply tap the Info button to launch HP's QuickLook 2, which provides instant access to Outlook 2003/2007 data.)

Based on Intel's new Centrino 2 platform, our $1,690 test unit came with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, and a 15.4-inch wide-screen LCD with antiglare coating (and a fairly narrow viewing angle). The screen has a native resolution of 1,280x800, which is typical for its size, and is powered by Intel's GMA X4500 HD integrated graphics.

You also get a DVD burner with LightScribe, meaning you can burn labeled discs on the go. Although a nice touch, it's probably not a priority for business users. We'd gladly skip the LightScribe option in favor of a larger hard drive; we've seen 250GB drives in notebooks that cost hundreds less. Indeed, the Cyberpower Xplorer X5-3400 has the same processor and RAM, but it also offers a 250GB drive and discrete graphics—all for $999.99.

On the plus side, the 6730b supports not only Bluetooth but also 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi. Other hardware perks include four USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, a memory-card reader, a VGA Webcam, and a fingerprint sensor embedded between the two touch-pad buttons. It also has a mini-FireWire port and, for reasons beyond our understanding, a serial port.

Although the 6730b has core hardware similar to the Xplorer X5-3400's, it couldn't quite keep up in our benchmark tests—mostly likely due to the integrated graphics. HP's system managed a respectable 3,195 in the PCMark Vantage test, but just 1,031 on 3DMark06—half what the Cyberpower and the ThinkPad scored. This is clearly not a system for after-hours gaming, nor is it the best choice for graphics-intensive business apps.

It is, however, a great choice for long trips. The 6730b lasted just under three hours in our battery-drain test, which means you should get close to six hours of runtime with the power-management features enabled. We found this particularly impressive because the notebook weighs 1.7 pounds less than the Cyberpower.

Ultimately, the laptop's integrated graphics are its biggest flaw. Given the 6730b's high price, this is the only major hitch in an otherwise solid business notebook.

If you needed any more signs that digital gear is taking up high-profile residence in the fahion world, Hewlett-Packard would like you to know about its Compaq Mini 210 Vivienne Tam Edition netbook, featuring a case design and desktop theme from the designer’s sprint 2010 collection inspired by the Chinese “Butterfly Lovers” story. The netbook marks Compaq’s latest collaboration with Tam, who has been doing “digital clutches” with Compaq since 2008.

“As a fashion designer I have always found inspiration in bringing contrasting worlds together,” said Tam, in a statement. “I use computers in every aspect of my life so it seemed natural to marry fashion and technology. Together with Compaq, we created this movement of fashionable tech accessories with the second-edition digital clutch.”

The system sports an 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N450 CPU, 2 GB of RAM, up to 320 GB of hard drive storage, and 10.1-inch LED-backlight widescreen display. The entire system is less than one inch thick and weighs just 2.7 pounds; Compaq says users should be able to get five hours of use off a single battery like Compaq Armada M700 Battery, Compaq EVO N400c Battery, Compaq EVO N410c Battery, Compaq EVO N600C Battery, Compaq EVO N610C Battery, Compaq EVO N620C Battery, Compaq Presario 1200 Battery, Compaq Presario 1800 Battery, Compaq Presario 700 Battery, Compaq Presario 900 Battery, and the integrated webcam will enable users to not only take snapshots and do video chats, but can also serve as an “instant mirror” so users can quickly check their makeup. The unit also features Compaq’s QuickWeb technology for enabling users to check in with social networking sites, chats, email, and calendars without fully booting into Windows. Compaq has also rolled in Beats by Dr. Dre audio software to improve audio output via speakers or headphones; previously the software had only been available on Compaq’s high-end Envy notebooks. The systems will ship with Windows 7 Home Premium.

The Compaq Mini 210 Vivienne Tam Edition will be available March 19 for a suggested price of $599; pre-orders are available now.

Tam has also collaborated with Monster to produce Butterfly premium headphones matching her spring 2010 collection.

Research Shows IT Problems Heating Up

According to a recent HP /quotes/zigman/229301/quotes/nls/hpq HPQ -1.79% survey of more than 500 IT managers at small businesses across the United States, 93 percent of companies have placed cost concerns over the best IT solutions, leading 89 percent of those companies to experience IT-related problems.

The study, conducted by Wakefield Research,(1) uncovered that the top three IT problems reported by cost-conscious companies are low-performing hardware (46 percent), out-of-date hardware (37 percent) and unreliable hardware (23 percent), leading to suboptimal computing efficiency and an overall loss of productivity.

The survey also revealed that 54 percent of small businesses cite summer as the peak season for working remotely. With 58 percent of IT managers stating that they have not invested in network security this year, companies will find they are adding pressure and potentially greater security risks to their already stressed IT networks.

Other key survey findings include:

-- Computer processing speed (35 percent) and reliability (19 percent) top IT managers' lists for most needed computer improvements. These practical considerations weigh more heavily on managers' minds than energy efficiency (9 percent).

-- When given the chance to tell their chief executive officers how to solve common concerns, IT managers recommend upgrading to newer and better quality components (29 percent), investing more money into IT systems (21 percent), and spending more time planning and researching the best solutions for their company's needs (13 percent).

-- Forty-one percent of IT managers think that planning their company's IT strategy is the best use of their time, compared to 11 percent of managers who believe their time is best spent on hardware support.

-- One-fifth of IT managers complained that their biggest computer problem is a lack of vendor assistance when problems occur.

"The survey findings confirm that budget-constrained small businesses are playing tug of war when it comes to balancing smart IT purchasing decisions and their budgets," says Stephen DiFranco, senior vice president and general manager, Personal Systems Group -- Americas, HP. Cheap PCs for the Price of One Tablet

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of Compaq Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptop-battery-stores.Com

When the Apple(AAPL), H-P(HPQ) or Research in Motion(RIMM) spinmeisters dreamed up the notion of low-cost tablet computers, I seriously doubt they expected their brainchild would not just be pricier than a normal notebook, but a lot pricier.

Do the math: A decent iPad 2 starts at about $499. But true ready-for-business tablets such as the 64 GB Verizon(VZ) Wi-Fi and 3G iPad can top $800 -- and that's before the cover, the keyboard and the nutty $30 spare charger.

Fry's, an electronics superstore, offers a nice online service to help your chances of finding a $300 Toshiba Satellite 15.6-inch Notebook in stock somewhere.

Compare that spend to the bread and butter of business mobility -- the notebook PC. These days, with just a bit of effort, a perfectly solid business-ready portable computer can be had for way less than $400.

So my inner cheapskate wondered: How many legitimate work PCs can I get for what I would spend on a $1,000 tablet?

Let's find out, shall we?

Compaq 15.6-inch Presario ($278 from Walmart.com)

We skinflints of the world know where the money is: Wal-Mart(WMT). The company routinely offers solid PCs for less than $300. Recently, I was dumbfounded by the value of this Compaq Presario. Sure, this 15.6-inch computer is a refurb, comes with a snoringly slow Celeron 900 processor and a limited 2 GB of RAM. But honestly, how much more do you need for basic Web computing and word processing at the office? And this unit comes with a 250 GB SATA hard drive, which means it's plenty fast. Plus it has Wi-Fi connectivity, a bunch of USB ports and Windows(MSFT) 7 installed. And if all that doesn't grab you, if you buy before July 31, you have six months to pay off the computer with no interest. Say you divide that $278 price tag by six; that works out to just $47 a month. That's less than a tank of gas. And for that, you are not leasing a computer, you are buying it. Is there a better business IT bargain on the market? Probably not.

Toshiba Satellite 15.6-inch Notebook ($300 at Fry's -- in-store only)

Yes, you will have to get off your you-know-what and brave the in-store elements. But Fry's, an electronics superstore, offers a nice online service to help your chances of finding one in stock somewhere. Besides having a nearly full-sized keyboard, this computer has a nearly full-size numeric keyboard. Then there is the full-on eSATA USB combo connection, meaning just about any next-gen storage device will rock on this bad boy. The Toshiba comes preloaded with face recognition; Toshiba's uber-cool, Apple-like multitouch mouse control; a six-cell battery like Compaq Armada M700 Battery, Compaq EVO N400c Battery, Compaq EVO N410c Battery, Compaq EVO N600C Battery, Compaq EVO N610C Battery, Compaq EVO N620C Battery, Compaq Presario 1200 Battery, Compaq Presario 1800 Battery, Compaq Presario 700 Battery, Compaq Presario 900 Battery; and one of Intel's(INTC) unloved, but effective for business, Pentium P6200 processors. You'll miss a lot of high-end bells and whistles, but for three hundred bucks, who cares.

Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 series ($429 at TigerDirect)

Since I have been such a good shopper, I can reward myself by going a whole $7 over budget. But for this PC, money is no object. The legendary ThinkPad is the perfect 100% mobile work solution. This baby is a Windows 7, 64-bit, Intel Core Duo-powered notebook PC with a fab high-resolution 15.6-inch screen. It comes with a DVD burner, 2 GB of RAM and four hours of battery life. Just to mention a few perks. The ThinkPad has been the weapon of choice of practically every corporate road warrior since it came out in 1992, and now you can have one for less than a nice client lunch.

Three laptops for one tablet? Yup, you can do it. And you can also start wondering if that tablet you crave is really worth the money.

It is very fascinating to obtain this machine given that HP put in a great deal of new technologies on this notebook. I'm positive that most people definitely will appreciate this notebook because it is excellent in every aspect. The brand new Compaq 620 WD675EA notebook coming from HP keeps on impress every body featuring impressive layout, enhanced overall performance as well as awesome transportability. Since HP launched Compaq 620 WD675EA people were expecting this instant and now it is there, at last we can set our own hands on cutting edge HP Compaq notebook and battery such as Compaq Armada M700 Battery, Compaq EVO N400c Battery, Compaq EVO N410c Battery, Compaq EVO N600C Battery, Compaq EVO N610C Battery, Compaq EVO N620C Battery, Compaq Presario 1200 Battery, Compaq Presario 1800 Battery, Compaq Presario 700 Battery, Compaq Presario 900 Battery.

Together with extended hours of energy life, it will be possible to work with this notebook as you may wish the whole day. The notebook does not weigh much in comparison with different notebooks in its category, we are able to express it's fairly light-weight. Even though there are potential rivals, Compaq 620 WD675EA nonetheless shocks us with its trendy pattern along with everything else.

I can declare this specific notebook that we are reviewing is really a nominee for the best 2010 notebooks.

Thermal management of this HP Compaq 620 WD675EA seemed to be a little below common whenever under stress. The device fan, whilst working under a number of circumstances, seemed to stream less air than needed to keep the notebook cool under serious demands.

We would not point out the good pixel density (the amount of pixels for each centimeter of screen) causes it to be specially troublesome to use, it provides a great resolution to obtain this particular size of display screen. Actually better is the quality of the display itself. It's a step-above similarly charged notebooks. Great details within videos and images are usually produced out well, a truth additional increased because of the sharpness of the resolution on the comparatively small display screen as well as the great blacks. Horizontally watching angles are actually quite inferior by standard standards, although they are a lot more than made with regard to by the great colour creation and also contrast generated.

The touchpad is certainly a shiny one along with some aid for multitouch gestures. The touchpad typically is responsive suffering from little or no delay. They've got shallow feedback in addition to need reasonable force to activate that is certainly actually much more comfortable. The touch pad buttons are easy to click using the side of your thumb and produce a small click when pushed. The keyboard of HP Compaq 620 WD675EA notebook is an chiclet-style variant, the keys feel totally sturdy for the tips of your fingers. Personally I don't like chiclet-style keyboards, yet I must acknowledge they appear really modern. If you'd prefer the appear and feel of the chiclet-style keyboards, you will end up satisfied when using the Compaq 620 WD675EA.

The graphics cpu used on this notebook allows you to work more like lighter video games -I just mean it might not handle the newest games- without problems. Sound systems come with 620 WD675EA notebook seem to be to some degree weaker, nevertheless they're very well for just a notebook. The cpu used on HP Compaq 620 WD675EA notebook is perhaps the best between latest cpus. Because of the latest innovative science utilized on this particular cpu you're able to run multi-tasks very easily, needless to say with the significant aid of RAM that provides torque to this beast notebook.

It's very fascinating to have this product due to the fact Apple invested loads of new systems on this laptop. I'm sure that most people can appreciate this laptop as it is outstanding in most aspect.

Along with extended hours life of the battery such as Compaq EVO N410c Battery, Compaq EVO N600C Battery, Compaq EVO N610C Battery, Compaq EVO N620C Battery, Compaq Presario 1200 Battery, Compaq Presario 1800 Battery, Compaq Presario 700 Battery, Compaq Presario 900 Battery, Compaq Presario 1700 Battery, Compaq Armada E500 Battery, it will be possible to work with this laptop as you like all day every day. Despite the fact that there are actually possible challengers, Presario nonetheless amazes us with its classy layout and everything else. I possibly could state this specific laptop which we're reviewing can be a nominee for the most powerful 2010 laptops.

I probably would not say the increased pixel density (the actual number of pixels for every millimeter of monitor) causes it to become extremely hard to work with, they have an amazing resolution meant for this kind of measurement of display. Actually greater is the quality of the screen itself. It's really a step-above likewise costed laptops. First-class details within videos and photographs are generally brought out perfectly, a fact additional improved via the sharpness of the resolution on the relatively tiny screen and the strong blacks. Horizontal viewing angles are truly fairly weak by typical standards, yet they are a lot more than composed for by the fantastic colour creation as well as contrast provided.

Heat performance for the Compaq Presario ended up being a little under average when under stress. The system cooling fan, while working under a number of occasions, seemed to flow less air than required to maintain the laptop cool under quite heavy requirements.

The touchpad is definitely a glossy one along with some assist for multitouch actions. The touchpad typically is responsive suffering from almost no delay. They've shallow feedback and also need reasonable pressure to trigger that is certainly really much more comfortable. The touchpad buttons are easy to click while using side of your thumb and emit a small click when pressed. The keyboard of Compaq Presario laptop is known as an chiclet-style version, the keys feel completely great to the tips of your fingers. Personally I do not enjoy island-style keyboards, but I need to say that they seem pretty modern. The graphics processor utilized on this laptop permits you to work more like lighter games -I imply it may not work with the modern games- without problems. Audio speakers utilized on laptop seem to be somewhat not too strong, still they're very well for just a laptop. The processor placed on Compaq Presario laptop is among the finest between recent processors. Considering the latest innovative engineering used on this specific processor you'll be able to conduct multi-tasks very easily, of course together with the huge help of RAM which brings torque to this monster laptop.

Compaq Prosignia 190

The Prosignia 190's two modular bays let you set it up for either extra-long battery life or extra-light weight. To watch back-to-back movies or work long stretches while in transit, you can swap out the removable floppy and DVD-ROM drives for two additional batteries ($179 for a 12-cell and $129 for an 8-cell). The total of three internal batteries such as Compaq Armada M700 Battery, Compaq EVO N610C Battery, Compaq EVO N620C Battery, Compaq Presario 1200 Battery, Compaq Presario 1800 Battery, Compaq 116314-001 Battery, Compaq Presario 700 Battery, Compaq Presario 900 Battery, Compaq Presario 1700 Battery, Compaq Presario X1000 Battery, Compaq Armada E500 Battery, the first we've seen in a notebook, provide up to 9 hours of outlet-free computing, according to Compaq (we tested only the primary battery). Or just insert space holders into both bays; doing so brings the Prosignia's 7.2-pound standard weight down to 6.1 pounds, impressively light for a notebook with a 15-inch screen. For heavy-duty storage, you can plug a second hard drive ($439 for a 12GB drive; $749 for an 18GB one) into the DVD-ROM drive bay.

WHAT'S NOT: Aside from an obtrusive screen latch and speaker ports positioned directly beneath typing hands, we can find little about the Prosignia 190 to ding.

WHAT ELSE: This Prosignia's sedate all-gray looks belie its many extras. Type A personalities eager to get a jump on work will like the myriad ways to launch applications, files, and Web sites from the keyboard (via four programmable shortcut buttons at the top, plus reprogrammable mouse buttons). Compaq's generous, well-written documentation includes a printed user's guide, an extensive ergonomic guide in the machine, and a downloadable online manual at the company's site. A copy of Microsoft's Office 2000 Professional Edition is bundled. If you leave out the locking screw, you can quickly pop out the primary hard drive for safekeeping. (The hard drive resides under a panel on the bottom, and the RAM sits beneath the keyboard, which you can peel back by pressing four large tabs at the top.) Like most Prosignias, the 190 has, for a notebook, better-than-average built-in audio. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite match the superbly full, rounded stereo of last year's Prosignia 140 and 160, the best-sounding notebooks we've heard. Performance in our PC WorldBench benchmark test--the Prosignia scored 130--was average for a Pentium III-650/500, which makes this model one of the fastest portables you can buy right now. Note to security-conscious companies: The Prosignia 190 is the first notebook we've seen offered with Keytronics' Biometrics FingerPrint Scanner ($94 extra). The device plugs into the notebook's serial port and is held with Velcro to the back of the screen. Compaq says its notebook keyboards eventually will include built-in scanners. Typing on the 190's keyboard is easy enough, except for the small, inconveniently placed Delete, Page Up, and Page Down keys.

BEST USE: The Prosignia 190 can morph into whatever a business needs: a portable with fantastically long battery life or extra storage, and a giant screen in a 6.1-pound package.

SUMMARY

Compaq Prosignia 190

PC WorldBench 2000 score of 130, Pentium III-650/500 CPU, 128MB of SDRAM, 15-inch active screen, 12GB hard drive, touchpad, 4X DVD-ROM drive, V.90 modem, multipurpose bay takes a second lithium ion battery, additional bay for third battery, Microsoft Office 2000 Professional Edition; 3-year parts warranty, 1-year labor warranty, free unlimited support, 24/7 toll-free support.

Compaq Armada E500

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist
of the Compaq Laptop Battery   First post by: www.batterystores.ca

The best-equipped notebook Compaq sells, the Armada E500 boasts Intel's top notebook processor, two modular bays, a 15-inch screen that supports 1400-by-1050 resolution, and convenient shortcut buttons. Because both the floppy and optical drives are removable, you can reconfigure the E500 in several different ways with extra-cost add-ins. For example, the notebook can hold as many as three batteries at once for up to nine hours of outlet-free computing, according to Compaq (we didn't test that claim, but we did get an impressive four hours out of a single battery). Each extra battery such as Compaq Armada M700 Battery, Compaq EVO N610C Battery, Compaq EVO N620C Battery, Compaq Presario 1200 Battery, Compaq Presario 1800 Battery, Compaq 116314-001 Battery, Compaq Presario 700 Battery, Compaq Presario 900 Battery, Compaq Presario 1700 Battery, Compaq Presario X1000 Battery, Compaq Armada E500 Battery costs $184. Alternatively, if you don't need the extra battery life or internal drives, you can plug both bays with included hollow travel bezels and lower the notebook's weight from over 8 pounds (including AC adapter) to about 6.5 pounds, which makes it light for its class. Other bay options include a 4X/4X/20X CD-RW drive ($399), SuperDisk LS-120 drive ($199), or second hard drive (up to 12 GB for $399). Compaq's lighter-weight corporate notebook, the Armada M700, can use the same devices, so companies can save money by sharing notebook modules. The E500's four shortcut buttons--for launching favorite applications, files, or Web sites--also are a helpful extra for multiple users. You can save an unlimited number of shortcut sets under different names, such as "Dave's project," and switch among them using the notebook's Easy Access utility.

WHAT'S NOT: Though most users won't notice the difference, the E500 lagged the average of PIII-850/700 notebooks we've tested running Windows 2000 Professional by 3 percent. It earned a PC WorldBench 2000 score of 157, compared with the average score of 162.

WHAT ELSE: The industrial-looking E500 is neither the handsomest nor the most traditionally designed corporate notebook we've seen. With its boxy profile, plain keyboard, large, bulbous screen latch, and vented back panel, the E500 looks more like a ruggedized laptop. Most of the ports are crammed on the right side and the back, with the left side of the notebook left oddly bare. But overall, it appears to be a well-built, capable machine. It allows easy access to both drives and memory (to free the hard drive, just remove one screw on the bottom of the notebook). DVD movies looked sharp and bright on our test machine, and music CDs sounded clear and adequately loud for a notebook. The volume toggle on the front of the notebook works smoothly and quickly. A composite video-out port lets the notebook use a TV screen as an external display, and pop-out tilt feet add typing comfort. Compaq includes utilities for managing the E500 across a network. Documentation covers the basics; you also get ergonomics advice in a separate Comfort and Safety Guide, and a Getting Started and Troubleshooting manual. In late October, Compaq recalled 55,000 batteries from E500 and V300 customers after one notebook overheated and smoked. (We didn't notice any problems with our test machine.) To see if you qualify for a battery replacement, go to http://www.compaqordercenter.com/sbrp/cl.asp.

BEST USE: The decked-out Armada E500 would make a reasonable choice for companies looking for a fuller-featured notebook to complement the thin-and-light Armada M700. However, both these notebooks are expensive compared with similarly equipped competitors, such as NEC's LXi and SXi lines. The E500's only unique advantages are its three-battery capacity and multiple-scheme shortcut buttons.

SUMMARY

Compaq Armada E500

HP laptops to sport long-lasting 'Enviro' batteries

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist
of the Hp laptop battery   First post by: www.batterystores.ca

Hewlett-Packard early next year will begin offering a new line of "Enviro" batteries for laptop users who want to upgrade to longer-lasting and more sustainably designed batteries.

HP and Boston Power have been testing the Sonata lithium-ion batteries for three years. The batteries were designed specifically for laptop use. After three years of use, the batteries will be able to keep 80 percent of their initial charge.

Laptop battery time typically starts to drop significantly after 150 or so charges, or cycles. Boston Power says that its batteries can be charged 1,000 times and get "like new" performance.

An HP representative on Tuesday said that the Sonata batteries will cost between $20 and $30 more than traditional batteries and will be available on some consumer laptop machines. There will be a three-year warranty, and no system changes are required.

The Enviro batteries are marketed as more environmentally friendly for a number of reasons, according to Christina Lampe-Onnerud, founder and CEO of Boston Power.

The company chose not to use any PVC plastic or heavy metals--cadmium, arsenic, or mercury--in the manufacturing process. The batteries can also be recycled, said Lampe-Onnerud, adding that the battery has received a number of "green" certifications.

More simply, Lampe-Onnerud argued that purchasing one product that lasts for at least three years, rather than buying multiple batteries such as Hp CGR-B1870AE battery, Hp Pavilion ZD7000 battery, Hp PP2182D battery, Hp 338794-001 battery, Hp PP2182L battery, Hp 345027-001 battery, Hp 342661-001 battery, pb995a, Hp pavilion dv6000 battery (Hp dv6000 battery), is more environmentally sustainable and economical.

"Our tests found that 40 percent of consumers over three years have replaced laptop batteries up to five times. If each is $150, that's almost the cost of the whole system," she said. "I think this will change the appetite for sustainable products. Instead of purchasing something expendable, they can have something that lasts."

Boston Power is in discussions with other computer manufacturers, she added without disclosing any names.

The company also plans to release a portable lithium-ion battery for adding charge to cell phones or other gadgets and intends to enter the auto battery market, Lampe-Onnerud said.

Managing black screens on laptops

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist
of the Hp laptop battery   First post by: www.batterystores.ca

Every now and then, people report that their MacBook or MacBook Pro's screen has turned blank. Sometimes this happens in the middle of working, but other times when the screen will not turn on after a restart or when waking from sleep. There are several reasons as to why this can happen, some of which are software-related, and others that have to do with the hardware.

Software issues

The display going out could be a matter of a software configuration problem, either with the display drivers or with one of the active processes that interacts with them, such as the window server. There are a few ways you can overcome this. The first is to change the display configuration by either plugging in or unplugging an external monitor. This will cause the drivers to refresh the display output and desktop configuration; hopefully, this will reset the error. The second way is to try sleeping the system again by closing the lid and opening it. When you close the lid, you should see the battery such as Hp CGR-B1870AE battery, Hp Pavilion ZD7000 battery, Hp PP2182D battery, Hp 338794-001 battery, Hp PP2182L battery, Hp 345027-001 battery, Hp 342661-001 battery, pb995a, Hp pavilion dv6000 battery (Hp dv6000 battery) and sleep indicator lights (green and white, respectively) turn on.

You can also use a key sequence to force the display to sleep and reset, which, hopefull, will force the display to reset properly and turn on. To do this, press and hold the Control and Shift keys, followed by the Eject key.

Lastly, if the display will not work even after rebooting, try loading into Safe Mode, especially if the display turns off after properly showing an initial gray screen. If safe mode works, you will need to troubleshoot the software setup by first uninstalling any recently installed drivers or utilities, and then by creating a new user account for testing purposes, since sometimes display problems can happen from an account-specific configuration problem. This will tell you if the problem is account-related or has to do with more global resources. If the problem persists in a new account, the next best step would be to boot off your Mac OS X installation DVD to see if the display works under a completely bare and fresh installation.

If the installation DVD works, then you will need to reinstall your OS by first reapplying the latest "Combo" update for your version of OS X (this is best applied when in Safe Mode), and then by run the installer from your OS X DVD and ensure that you have "Archive and Install" selected with the option to save user accounts and data (this is done by default in Snow Leopard).

If the display problems occur when booting from the installation DVD, it is likely you are suffering from a hardware malfunction and will need to troubleshoot the hardware setup.

Hardware issue

Hardware issues that can affect the display output include firmware settings as well as the display hardware and controllers themselves. Many people have tried to reset the PRAM when they have issues such as the screen being blank when the computer is woken from sleep; however, many display settings are stored in the System Management Controller. Therefore, in addition to resetting the PRAM you may benefit from resetting the SMC on your machine. On most MacBooks you can do this by removing the power and battery, and pressing the power button for 15 seconds, but some models vary so look up how to do this for your particular machine.

Beyond firmware settings, you may have a problem with the display inverter or LED driver board, which is what runs the backlight on LDC displays. When this happens, the display should still be working, but will not be easily visible because of the lack of lighting. You can test this by shining a flashlight on the display at different angles, or preferably through the Apple logo on the back of the display. If you see graphics showing on the display, then your backlight is not working. If a restart or SMC/PRAM reset do not help, you will need to take the computer in for servicing.

Lastly, if you have recently had the computer serviced (especially if done by yourself), some of the display-related circuits may have been improperly connected or insulated upon assembly. Apple has foam and plastic insulation around circuits and connectors that can be shorted out by touching other components, so if you forget to put these back on when assembling the system, you can easily cause a component like the inverter to fail. Luckily this usually can be fixed by replacing the insulation, but you will need to have it serviced again to fix.
