Briar Rose is an alternative and art model from Italy with a sincere love for artistry. But she is not your typical alternative model. Instead, she thrives off romantic characters that she creates. Characters that are drawn from her love of myths, folklore and Gothic artists like Victoria Francès. Keep reading to understand just how different she is!

Photography by Jacques Rarraz[/caption]Tell us about your career as model. How did you get started? In my late teenage years I started growing fond of the romantic gothic culture as a whole, especially of its artistic side. I was a big fan of the Spanish illustrator Victoria Francès, and I wanted to bring a little of the beauty of her drawings in my everyday life. I bought, or made, lacy skirts and corsets and used to go to parks with friends to take photos in them and spend a fun afternoon together. I posted the photos we took online, on DeviantArt, where Luis, a Belgian photographer also known as Image of You, noticed them and asked me to pose for him. We met in Paris, where I was for my high school diploma present, and with that first shooting in 2009 I discovered my true love for photography.Did you always want to be a model or did you have other career aspirations when you were growing up? If I had the chance to meet the teenage me and tell her she would become a model in a couple of years, she would have burst into laughter and told me "Yeah, enough with the joking, I'll go back to my book now." I was the complete opposite of a little girl who wants to become a model: nerdy, often called "ugly", I was more interested in novels than in makeup. I wanted to become an anthropologist or a UN ambassador. Growing up, I felt the need to direct myself towards a more artistic career. Still, I don't see modeling in my future: it's just a temporary passion and part-time job.If you had to choose, which would be your favourite genre? I love conceptual shootings. As I said before, I wanted to become an anthropologist, and I love myths and folklore in general. I like to bring stories and traditions in my photos. Sometimes I even bring my studies in them, like when I took a series of photos about shamanism. There are also times when I try to represent the lyrics of a song or a poetry I'm fond of. It's not just your usual alternative photography.What's it like to be an alternative model in Italy? Is the community strong? Alternative models have quite a hard time in Italy: we're still quite traditional here. The alternative scene is slowly growing in these last years, and most models are supportive to each others, but photographers often look for the "Suicide Girl" clichè. It's quite difficult to find someone willing to make something really creative.You say that you aim for your images to be like an artwork. You say "It's like acting, just in a frozen moment." Could you tell us more about this? Do you think more models should keep this mindset?I really want people who look at my photos to feel something. When posing, I always keep in mind the story I want to tell, of the emotions I want to convey. I used to act in theatre and I bring a lot of that in my modeling work. I'm like an actress, but I can't use my voice, so I have to put a double effort in being expressive with just my body and looks. I think this is a good mindset for models who want to "tell" something in their photos. If it's just work, for example a fashion ad, there are other things to concentrate on.

Rebel Girl: Siobhan

Siobhan is an alternative model based in Belgium. She loves latex and takes a lot of pride in coming up with creative concepts for shoots. When she’s not modelling she loves to study Game Design, plan future tattoos and work on her Etsy shop where she sells cute Octopus style hair accessories. I never thought anything like "I would like to be a model… what should I do?“ I was always surrounded by talented people. I also knew a few photographers and they asked me to model for them. Since then it has snowballed. My first photo shoot was in 2008, but I started to take modeling more seriously in 2014.Do you love any one genre of modelling more than another? It is hard to say because it varies. One shoot I could prefer elegant photos and then the next time I want to be a "hardcore hottie." :D Currently, I love dark conceptual photography although it is not the style I have in my portfolio. I would really like to do more work like that in the future.Tell us about your style! That separates you from other models? I try to combine elements of elegant and hardcore/metal style. I like to look sexy; I like short skirts and high heels. I am known for my crimson red hair and black-red tattoos. Those aspects are also contained in my model name – Michelle Crimson.What was your first shoot as a model like? It was in 2008. My friend was studying photography and asked me if I would pose for him. The shoot was taken in a cemetery with Gothic styling.Who are some of your biggest modelling inspirations? I like the work of Miss Overdose, Červena Fox, Sister Sinister, Brittanya Razavi, Jessica Seamons and Starfucked. I follow their pages and they inspire me, but I would never copy anyone.Let’s talk tattoos for a moment! What first drew you to tattoos? It may sound like a cliché but I always wanted a tattoo. When I was a child, my mother bought me an amazing toy – a tattoo set for children which consisted of a few stencils and 4 marker pens. When I was 22, I finally got a real one.Do you have a favourite tattoo experience/tattooist/tattoo? I have 5 tattoos. My favorite tattoo is the "metalheart“ writing on my chest. It is personal because it depicts me the most and it is placed in an important location – it is near the heart and not so easily concealable. All my tattoos are done at Inkoust Tattoo (Prague, Czech Republic).Are you planning any more for the future? Of course! I think tattoos are a real addiction I am planning to continue in building my collection but presently, I have other priorities so unfortunately I can´t afford to spend money on tattoos right now. But I would like to get a sleeve tattoo.You do everything thing from catwalks, music videos and hostessing! Which have you found to be the most difficult so far?I am not good at pretending so I am not a good actress. This is why I found acting in music videos as the most difficult. On the other side when you are in a catwalk, everyone is gazing at you and you have only one attempt to do it well. I have the most experience with hostessing.

I have always been a huge fan of piercings and tattoos, but of course stuff like that is not cheap and I’m a broke student at the moment. I’m currently saving up for my first tattoo and have discussed the concept I want with a very talented artist already, so hopefully it won’t take too long anymore.You’re also studying game design! Wow, that’s a lot of hard work. Do you think your fantastical photo shoots will ever inspire your game work, or vice versa?Yeah it’s quite a lot of work haha! But I really love it. I think I will have an advantage when we start designing characters and studying anatomy because of my experience with posing.What do you consider your career highlights so far? Since I’m not super experienced yet, I haven’t done that many incredibly exciting things, but the one big highlight has just been being able to work with photographers whose work I’ve been admiring for years. And of course getting interviewed for an awesome website such as yours is a really cool experience.If you could shoot with or for anyone, who would you choose and why?I’m a really big Ellen Von Unwerth fan, so modelling for her would be a dream come true. I know that’s never going to happen, but a girl can dream haha!Before we go, do you have any tips for new models that find you inspiring?Don’t be afraid to contact photographers, even if you think you’re not on a high enough level yet. Some rejection is unavoidable, but you’ll be amazed at how many photographers will actually say yes. What Happened When I Broke Into The Apartment Of My Failed One Night Stand

One night stands can be exciting, spontaneous, and sexy. At times, they can also be extremely awkward. But, you can rest assured knowing you won’t ever have to see that person again. That is unless you accidentally left something behind at their place. That was the case for one woman, who was determined to get her denim jacket back from a guy she’d had a failed one night stand with. Read on to find out more about this hilarious encounter.

One night stand. Nicole Karlis writes via Marie Claire about the time she had an awkward one night stand that left her having an awkward encounter with the guy’s roommate. After leaving her favorite denim jacket at her date’s apartment, she had no choice but to break in and try and get it back.

Mystery man. Karlis had been out with friends when she met the mysterious man that would eventually bring her back to his apartment. After a few rounds of drinks, Karlis explains that a man named Cameron approached her and tried to seduce her right then and there.

Curveball. "He had a commanding smile that matched his sleek silver suit. I was surprised that he plucked me out of the crowd: a small blonde with Midwestern roots. We talked about mundane topics like our jobs and where we lived—nothing meaningful. But then he threw a curveball,” writes Karlis, via Marie Claire.

Seductive. Cameron seductively told Karlis that he wanted her to come home with him, where he’d proceed to undress her slowly before tying her up. Intrigued and obviously turned on, Karlis decided to take the bait, and agreed to go home with Cameron.

Attention. "I liked the attention. I liked what I was hearing. I liked pretending to be the type of girl who would go home with a guy, get tied up, and not think twice about it. And that's because a part of me is that girl—but I didn't know how to accept that quite yet. I was never given a manual on how to get through life as a curious, single woman with a healthy sex drive,” writes Karlis.

Promise. Moments later, Karlis found herself back at Cameron’s apartment. Because he’d already been pretty clear about his intentions, the pair got straight to the point. They immediately headed into his room, where Karlis asked him when he was going to fulfill his promise of tying her up.

Shoelace. "He leaned over to his bedside dresser and pulled out a long, white shoelace. 'This is all I have.’ I froze in a state of confusion. A shoelace? Really? I thought I was going to at least be teased with handcuffs, or a sexy silk tie. His confidence at the bar led me to believe he was an experienced, kinky kind of guy,” writes Karlis.

Turned off. Karlis couldn’t hide her disappointment, and was immediately turned off by the unsexiness of the shoelace. When Cameron went into the bathroom, she saw her opportunity to head out of the apartment unnoticed.

Dashed. "Suddenly and inexplicably, he scurried to the bathroom. That's when I grabbed my things and dashed for the door without saying goodbye…leaving my jean jacket behind,” writes Karlis.

Plan. The next day, Karlis shared her woes with her co workers. She wanted to get her denim jacket back, but knew nothing about the guy who she’d nearly slept with. All she knew was that she wanted her jacket back. So she hatched a plan to show up at his apartment to try and get it back.

Game. "I knocked on the door, but nobody answered, so I knocked again. I should have left, but instead I coyly played with the doorknob. The door swung open. Actually, literally, just...swung open. 'Hello…?' I uttered as I stepped inside. I knew I was playing a dangerous game by being there, but I also loved the adrenaline rush. Twice in 24 hours I felt like I was somebody else, playing a role,” writes Karlis.

Caught. After realizing no one was home, Karlis entered the home, and for ten minutes searched the place looking for her jacker, but with no luck. Finally, she decided to give up and head home. However, she froze in her footsteps when Cameron’s roommate came home and caught her redhanded.

Intruder. "Clearly, he had no idea who I was, but he also didn't think I was an intruder trying to rob his house. 'Is Cameron here?' he asked. I said no, took a deep breath, and delivered the ludicrous explanation for my visit: 'So, I actually came home with Cameron last night. I left my jacket here, but didn't have his number, so I thought I'd stop by and get it’,” writes Karlis.

No luck. After helping her search for the jacket, both the roommate and Karlis gave up. However, she was able to leave behind her number in the hopes that her one night stand might eventually call her to say he had her jacket.

Bolder. "I gave him my number to pass on to Cameron; he said he'd tell him I swung by. I never did get that jacket back. But I got a little bolder, which might be what I needed more,” writes Karlis, via Marie Claire.
