Throughout the years, there has been a lot of advancement especially in improving the battery lifespan of notebook and also with notebooks. Today, you will find that there are three distinct notebook battery types available in the market. By knowing the difference between them, it will help you decide exactly on what to get when the time arises that you need to buy a new battery for your notebook.

This article aims to enlighten you on the different notebook battery types and also the advantages of each.

Nickel Cadmium - The first rechargeable batteries available are NiCd batteries such as Asus A42-A3 Battery, Asus A8F Battery, Asus F3T Battery, Asus F3Sc Battery, Asus F3Sv Battery, Asus 90-NI11B1000 Battery, Asus 90-NIA1B1000 Battery, Asus 90-NF51B1000 Battery, Asus 70-NF51B1000 Battery, Asus A32-A8 Battery, Asus Z99J Battery, Asus Z99H Battery. Manufactures loved them due to their cost. The cost was relatively low and they had a high output. Today, you won't find Nickel Cadmium batteries being used anymore. One reason why it is no longer utilized because it is heavier and not as efficient as the newer notebook batteries available in the market today.

Nickel Metal Hydride - you can still find NiMH batteries all over the place mostly with older model of notebooks. The rechargeable NiMH battery was a big step up especially for notebook and notebook technology because they were more reliable compare to NiCd batteries plus the fact that NiMH had an even higher output. NiMH batteries are also cheaper to produce and a lot safer to use. One major issue in using NiMH batteries is that they can have a memory effect. In essence, if you do not fully discharge a NiMH battery, it can remember this and will leave you with a less than perfect HP laptop battery output the next time you use it.

Lithium Ion - Today, LiON batteries are being used in most new notebooks. Unlike NiMH battery, LiON notebook batteries have no memory effect so it's just fine to use the battery even if you didn't discharge it properly. Another advantage of LiON batteries over NiCd and NiMH batteries is that it's much lighter than both. These LiON battery advantages makes the Lithium Ion battery being the most popular and most expensive among the various notebook batteries available in the market today.

So if you are thinking of what kind of Dell laptop battery to get for your notebook, then we suggest that you get Lithium Ion battery. Although it is not cheaper as compared to the other type of batteries, yet it will surely give you more value for your money.
